“The rise of skyscrapers in Vietnam began in the 1990s due to space limitations and competition among cities like Hanoi and Da Nang. Ho Chi Minh City leads with the most buildings over 100 meters, including the globally recognized Bitexco Financial Tower. A visit to its observation deck offers a unique perspective on the evolving skyline, which blends modern skyscrapers with historic colonial architecture, reflecting power and modernity. While rooftop bars in historic hotels once provided serene views, new venues cater to a vibrant nightlife for younger generations.

Despite a trend towards high-rise living, many still prefer houses over apartments, though new developments feature attractive penthouses. The future remains uncertain as to whether these modern towers will replace traditional landmarks in the hearts of Saigonese people, who still cherish iconic structures like the Notre Dame Cathedral, which carry more spiritual significance than contemporary skyscrapers.”
