The inspiration for this series is drawn from “The Tale of Từ Thức Marrying a Goddess,” a story that delves into the life of Từ Thức during the Trần dynasty. He encounters and weds a goddess in the divine realm, only to later depart from his celestial spouse to revisit his hometown. Unbeknownst to him, countless ages have transpired in the mortal world during his absence.
Set in Hue, amidst the tranquil lagoon of Tam Gian, this visual narrative is intricately woven around the theme of Water. Water, as one of the Five Elements, is pliable and versatile, enabling us to shape and manipulate it according to our wishes. Yet, its very nature of fluidity renders it elusive, slipping through our grasp like the passage of Time.
The concept of ‘The Return’ symbolizes a recurring cycle, where we yearn to reconnect with a world of yore. However, the actuality of returning often unveils a stark contrast to our nostalgic expectations.
