Après que les Accords de Genève de 1954 ont divisé le Vietnam entre le Nord et le Sud, il y a eu une période de 300 jours (se terminant le 18 mai 1955) pendant laquelle les Vietnamiens pouvaient choisir librement leur lieu de résidence.
Une migration massive s’est produite, avec environ 1 million de personnes se déplaçant du nord vers le sud et environ 50 000 personnes du sud vers le nord.
On célèbre ce 7 Mai de cette année 2024 le 70e anniversaire de la bataille de Dien Bien Phu.

annoncé récemment la constitution à Saigon d’une société vietnamienne de
transports aériens : la Société Air Vietnam. La nouvelle entreprise exercera
son activité dans les États associés et assurera les relations du Vietnam avec
les pays voisins.

Nguyen Tan Trung, president of Air Vietnam, has been named chairman of the Board of Directors of the Republic of Vietnam flag carrier. His nomination by board members to the post, which has traditionally been held by a cabinet minister, has been approved by the Vietnamese Government.
