Album – Students of Traditional Vietnamese Arts
by photographer Quang Lam
These portraits done in 20012 is part of a documentary project done with the collaboration of the Fine Arts University of HCMC. While the country rushes headlong for money, the studentss are still learning focusing on their studies of traditional silk painting and lacquer painting.
At this point they don’t really care on how the academic pursuits could lead to a future career. Are they naïve? Are they dreaming? Who can tell.
But in a peaceful academic surrounds, they are the last chance to maintain an ancestral culture. Through their commitment and with the support of their teachers they are fighting for their art.
