Cholon, also known as Chợ Lớn, is the largest Chinatown in Vietnam, located in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). This vibrant area has a rich history and is known for its unique blend of Vietnamese and Chinese cultures. It was established in the 18th century and grew as a hub for Chinese immigrants, particularly from the Cantonese and Teochew ethnic groups.

During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Vietnam was under French colonial rule, which significantly influenced the architectural landscape of Ho Chi Minh City, including Cholon. French colonial architecture is characterized by grand buildings with elements such as high ceilings, large windows, and wrought-iron balconies
