A vase fell down and it has been examined if it was damaged. A crack was found but was it already there before the fall ?
This event was the trigger for this series.
“Dream objects” subject has been developed by the Surrealists. The chance meeting of a strange object, a “slipper spoon”, provoked a sense of déja-vu to poet André Breton. That object was analyzed later as an artifact from his dreams.
Psychoanalysis talks about dreams of composite objects, as interobjects. It is a phenomenon of dreams, in which there is a perception of something that is between two objects.
Vases are Vietnamese old artworks, in wood and ceramics. They bring multiple sensations. They create different states of mind, from nostalgia to aesthetic emotion but they always anchor us to the physical world.
The series critics current manufactured products, unable to inspire us such deep emotions as those in this series.
